“Mexico Reports the Highest Murder Rate in the World”

The year of 2017 was the greatest year of violence in Mexico. According to the government statistics, Mexico has the highest murderous rates ever recorded. Many of these murderous acts occurred in the western part of Mexico, such as the states of Jalisco, Sinaloa, Guerrero, and Baja California Sur.

In the past year, there were 25,339 homicides reported in Mexico. There was a twenty-three-percentage jump from 2016 and 2017. It was also the highest murder rate recorded since 1997. In 2014, homicides went down to 15,520 but due to all the drug-related crime, crimes have gone up significantly.

Journalists have stated these states such as Jalisco, Sinaloa, Guerrero, and Baja California Sur are one of the most dangerous places. Due to all the drug cartels are mostly known to be in these places.

In the year 1992, six journalists were killed in Mexico in the above-mentioned states. This information was confirmed by the Committee to Protect Journalist in Mexico. In the year of 2017, forty journalists were killed all around these states.

In Guerrero, murders went up to 2,316 in the past year, when in 2014 the highest murders went up to 1,514 people. In Sinaloa, the place mostly known for the greatest “drug lord” in history-“El Chapo”-rose up thirty-nine percent in the past year.Baja California Sur is a very tourist area where murders only when up to 560 people.

According to CNN, Mexican drug cartels take about 19 and 29 billion dollars annually from the U.S. drug sales. Some major cartels include the Beltran Leyva, Gulf Cartel, Juarez Cartel, La Familia Michoacana, Los Zetas Cartel, Sinaloa Cartel, and the Tijuana Cartel.

Mexico has now achieved a new record in all the bloody murders.
