David Crane, the chair of the Social Studies department at PHS, has been nominated and selected by the staff of The Pirate Speaks newspaper as the featured teacher for the month of March.

Mr. Crane graduated from Clinton High School in 1988 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Social Science from Mississippi College. He has also taken graduate level classes at Ashland University.

Teaching 4 classes of U.S. History and 2 classes of Duel Credit U.S. History, Crane is approaching the end of his 23rd year of teaching at Pearl High School.

When asked what was something interesting about working at PHS, Crane stated, “I think that it is pretty cool to be working alongside some of my former students here at PHS. While there are none within the Social Studies department, I have former students teaching in the Fine Arts, Math, English, Science, and Business departments…1 of them is actually a department chair with me!”

Crane enjoys reading, working in his yard, and tweeting. He likes to listen to music of many genres and watch TV with his wife, Amy Crane, who also teaches at PHS. He has 3 children and drives an elementary bus route each morning.
